As of 2nd June 2020, Community-Based Rehabilitation Program activities were resumed in the informal settlements of Nairobi. Through the stern observance of preventive measures to curb the transmission of COVID-19 such as the proper handling of personal protective equipment during and after interacting the beneficiaries.
The occupational therapists from Ruaraka Uhai Neema Hospital will continue working incessantly towards addressing and supporting the needs of children with disabilities. During the curfew and lockdown in Nairobi Kenya, the parents were able to continue the efforts through learnt home therapy taught to them by World Friends and R.U. Neema staff.
Access to the assistive devices and equipment provided by World Friends at all the gyms will ensure that the children progress on their developmental milestones in areas such as visual feedback concentration and limb coordination. The endeavors to resume the activities will ensure early intervention in the first years of life, enabling the children a better chance of improvement and offer them a more inclusive future.
