The RU Neema Hospital has achieved an important Acknowledgment

TRAGUARDO FOTOThe RU Neema Hospital has achieved Level 4 (out of 5) in Quality Healthcare , thanks to the highest score recorded in Kenya among over 500 public and private health facilities SafeCare collaborates with. (Only Aga Khan University Hospital has scored 5)

SafeCare has been established to support both public and private healthcare facilities to go through a stepwise improvement program to deliver safe and quality-secured care to their patients. SafeCare acts as the custodian of internationally recognized, unique sets of standards that are realistic for resource-restricted settings while not compromising on quality, safety and efficiency. Such standards are accredited by the International Society for Quality in Healthcare (ISQua), a global leader in quality improvement.

With technical support from SafeCare, facilities are equipped to move forward along a trajectory that can result in international accreditation – an objective, third-party and worldwide recognized certification of the quality of care offered at the facility. For this reason the Ruaraka Uhai Neema Hospital joined the above-mentioned initiative in 2014 and since then all its employees, under the leadership of the Hospital Management Team, have worked to raise the quality of the assistance offered to our patients.

At the end of the first assessment by SafeCare evaluators, based on JCI’s International Essentials of Health Care Quality and Patient Safety™, the hospital obtained its first certificate – Level 1. At that time, numerous and significant were the scopes for improvement across all the 5 areas assessed by this very comprehensive exercise – i.e.:

  1. Leadership Process and Accountability;
  2. Educated, Competent and Capable Staff;
  3. Safe Environment for Staff and Patients;
  4. Clinical Care of Patients;
  5. Improvement of Quality and Safety.

The commitment undertaken by the whole hospital has led, within 3 years, to the achievement of Level 4 (out of 5), thanks to the highest score recorded in the country by SafeCare. As reported by Mrs. Millicent Olulo-Program Director, Safe Care Kenya: “Among over 500 facilities we have continuously assessed in Kenya over the years, Ruaraka Uhai Neema Hospital has got the highest score so far! We attribute this to a sense of ownership amongst the staff and also the great team work that exists in Ruaraka Uhai Neema Hospital.”
